Good to know

What "public" means on LinkedIn, and why it decides everything

LinkedIn shows a post to people who are not logged in only when its author chose Anyone as the audience. A post shared with Connections only, or inside a group, does not exist for a logged-out visitor. We never use a LinkedIn account to fetch anything, so those posts cannot be downloaded here.

A quick test: open the post's link in a private browser window where you are not signed in to LinkedIn. If the video plays there, we can download it. If LinkedIn asks you to sign in first, we cannot.

This is a deliberate limit, not a technical gap. A video an author shared with a closed audience was not meant to travel outside it. For anything else, such as your own company's post, the simplest route is to ask whoever uploaded it for the original file, which will also be higher quality than anything LinkedIn streams.

What people use it for

Repurpose your company's videos

Marketing teams pull their own published LinkedIn videos back out for a website, a newsletter or other channels.

Build a portfolio

Keep copies of talks, demos and announcements you appeared in, before the post gets buried in the feed.

Prepare a presentation

Drop a public product video into a slide deck so it plays without a connection.

Keep event highlights

Archive the clips your organisation posted after a conference or a launch.

Key facts

Works withPublic LinkedIn posts with an uploaded video: linkedin.com/posts/..., linkedin.com/feed/update/... and lnkd.in short links from the Share button
You getMP4 with sound, at the best quality LinkedIn serves for that post
Quality choiceOne option. LinkedIn does not publish a list of resolutions, so we take the best copy available
Not possiblePosts visible only to connections, videos first posted in a LinkedIn group (even when reshared to a profile), documents and carousels, events and live streams
Refused on purposeLinkedIn Learning. Courses are paid content, so we do not download them
Videos linked from elsewhereA post that shares a YouTube or Vimeo link holds no LinkedIn video. That video lives on the other site
PriceFree. No LinkedIn login, no extension

If it does not work

"This post is private or needs a login"
The post's audience is not Anyone. Run the private-window test above. If LinkedIn asks for a sign-in, the post cannot be downloaded.
"That LinkedIn link is not a single post"
You copied a profile, company page or feed link. Use Copy link to post from the post's own menu.
"We found the post, but it has no video in it"
The post shares a link, a document or images. If it links to a YouTube video, that video is hosted on YouTube, which we do not support.
LinkedIn Learning links are refused
Courses are paid content. We do not download them. LinkedIn Learning's own app offers offline viewing for subscribers.
"This video was posted in a LinkedIn group"
Group posts are visible only to signed-in members, and a reshare to someone's profile inherits that. When a share link names a public reshare, we try that version automatically; if LinkedIn still asks visitors to sign in, the video cannot be fetched without a login.

Questions people ask

Can you download videos from LinkedIn?

Yes, from public posts. Paste the post's link above. LinkedIn itself has no download button for videos in other people's posts, which is why tools like this exist.

How do I download a video from a LinkedIn post?

Open the post's menu (the three dots), choose Copy link to post, paste it above and press Download.

Do I need to log in to LinkedIn?

No, and we never ask for your LinkedIn login. That is also why posts limited to connections cannot be downloaded.

What quality will I get?

The best version LinkedIn serves for that post. LinkedIn does not publish a list of sizes, so we offer a single best-quality MP4 rather than guessing at labels.

Can I download LinkedIn Learning videos?

No. Courses are paid content and we refuse those links. Subscribers can watch offline in the LinkedIn Learning app.

Does the author see that I downloaded their video?

LinkedIn does not notify authors about downloads made outside LinkedIn. Ask before reusing someone else's video. They will usually be glad to share the original file.

Can I download LinkedIn documents or carousels?

Not here. This tool handles video only.

Do you keep the video or the link?

No. The file is prepared in a temporary folder and deleted within about an hour. Links are not logged.
